RYA / YA Theory Courses

These courses are designed to give you the background theory knowledge for safe sailing. Courses are all based on the RYA and Yachting Australia syllabus and will equip you for all your practical training including Yachtmaster. The certificates are issued jointly by the Royal Yachting Association and Yachting Australia and are recognised internationally

New Internet Online Course Delivery

You can complete all your theory requirements to yachtmaster offshore through a recognised RYA/YA internet online learning program. This is the only internet recognised course in Australia and means you can study anywhere you can get access to the internet and a table. On satisfactory completion of the assessment papers you will obtain either your RYA/YA Day Skipper or RYA/YACoastal skipper theory certificate depending on the course you have enrolled in.

How it Works

Once you enrol we will send you a theory pack with practice charts, practice Almanac, course notes and RYA Day Skipper theory text. We also send you a password and site link to the online course.

When you receive your kit you can register online and complete a series of 12 exercises. You complete the exercises on line and get immediate feedback working at your own pace. Each exercise includes animated demonstrations and worked through examples. Your results are also sent to a Yachtmaster instructor who will monitor your progress and provide feedback. You can get in touch with your instructor either by telephone or email.

When you have completed the exercises you do two assessment papers which we can arrange to be done at your location or here with us.

You will need access to a large table for chart work, Breton chart protractor and a pair of dividers. We can provide the protractor and dividers.

Online courses are conveinient and you can work at your own pace. We are never very far away to help you through it.
